Miniature Field Manual
A downloadable game
The Miniature Field Manual (MFM) is a simple miniature-agnostic wargame suitable for small-scale skirmishes set in different eras.
As with all miniature wargames, you’ll need models, six-sided dice (referred to as dice), and a measuring tool, and you’ll determine outcomes by rolling dice. However, unlike many other games, MFM does not determine success by checking if your dice result exceeds a target number (and applying modifiers to that result); instead, you adjust the number of dice rolled and compare dice results in an opposed roll format. The stronger your unit and the more favorable its conditions, the more dice you roll. Conversely, the more challenging the situation and the more disadvantages it faces, the more dice your opponent rolls.
Applying modifiers becomes more intuitive, gameplay is faster, making MFM more accessible for beginners or players who want a quick game. You can easily hack the game into almost any background while keeping them very simple.
If you feel enjoying this game, don't hesitate to tell me how you feel and share it to your friends!
This game is free, and it will always remain free, but I do accept donations. Donations will be used to fund equipment for making battle report videos and purchasing more models. Currently, please make donations through itch.io.
What You Need
Playing Area: A surface of at least 24 inches by 24 inches, with terrain pieces reasonably placed for units to maneuver, hide, and take cover.
Your Squad: Each player fields about ten similarly sized miniature soldier models of the scale the players choose.
Dice: Six-sided dice. You need a lot of them cause that's the feature of this game!
Measuring Tool: A ruler or tape measure.
And The Rule!
Future Expansions:
I understand that with the current amount of content, it may be difficult to convince players to set aside the other games they’re currently passionate about. While I do have advanced rules, WWII faction rules, and even multi-squad combat rules in development, these rules have not yet met my standards, and therefore are not ready for release.
I promise to make them available after they are completed and undergo preliminary testing. These rules will also always remain free, so feel free to add this game to your Library and stay tuned for future updates.
If you wish to join the experimentation, make sure you take photos and record your play through of your boot camp game! I will make sure they are available to you asap!
